Description:

1975 Benelli Export 3VK50

They do not make them like this anymore, and they certainly do not survive looking like this anymore. This 1975 Benelli Export 3VK50 is an honest, unrestored original in the factory red and white two-tone colour scheme, and it looks exactly like what it is: a beautifully preserved Italian lightweight that spent five decades being looked after properly.

Benelli built these 50cc machines for everyday Italian city life in the 1970s. They were practical, economical, and well-engineered for their class. This one carries the original cursive Benelli tank script, a small Italian tricolor flag decal beside it, and the factory bodywork on all sides. Nothing has been touched up or repainted. The red paint retains decent gloss with only minor age-related wear. The white panels show a little yellowing and some light marks, which is exactly what you expect from a five-decade-old bike that has been used and kept rather than hidden away.

The 50cc single-cylinder two-stroke engine is all there, with the 'Benelli' name cast directly into the clutch cover. The cylinder fins are intact and the engine appears clean and dry. The vendor reports it runs and rides well without needing a battery to start, and the lights are working. The hand-change transmission is a charming period feature and entirely correct for this type of machine.

Chrome on the headlight nacelle, handlebars, exhaust, and wheel spokes is in good shape with only light age dulling. The black vinyl seat is intact with no tears. The twin rear shocks are original. Wire-spoke wheels on both ends with adequate tread. The speedometer lens has some light surface scratching consistent with age but the gauge face is legible and the odometer reads 4,326 miles.

Note: the bike has no key, as stated in the listing.

This is a bike for the European moped and lightweight collector, or for someone who simply wants a charming, completely original piece of 1970s Italian motorcycling on the shelf. Increasingly difficult to find in this condition.
