Overview

The Railmaster occupies a unique position in Omega's catalogue as the magnetic resistance specialist, a direct descendant of the original 1957 model developed to solve a very specific problem: conventional lever-escapement watch movements fail in the strong electromagnetic fields generated by electric railway infrastructure and industrial laboratory equipment. Omega's answer was a soft-iron Faraday cage encasing the Calibre 2403 movement, isolating it from external magnetic fields up to 15,000 A/m. It is a tool watch in the purest sense, engineered around a specific performance requirement, dressed in a dial that looks back to 1957 with luminous Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 and the understated black field that makes every number legible in any light.



Photos confirm the black dial in excellent condition, with all luminous plots intact and uniformly filled. The Arabic numerals and triangular arrow indices are sharp and bright. The "RAILMASTER" script, Omega Co-Axial Chronometer designation, and "150m/500ft" water resistance text are all clearly legible. The stainless steel case presents very well, with sharp lug edges and cleanly defined polished and brushed finishes showing no significant wear marks. The screw-down crown is undamaged with clean knurling. A new dark brown aftermarket leather strap is fitted with an Omega-signed tang buckle, presenting the watch in a classic, versatile configuration. The full documentation set is present: the original red Omega presentation box, Pictogram/Chronometer card confirming Calibre 2403 and reference 2803.52.37, and the International Warranty card with hang tag.

Condition

The watch presents in very good to excellent condition. The black dial is clean with no marks, discolouration, or blemish. Luminous plots are intact and uniform in colour. The sapphire crystal appears free from chips and scratches. The stainless steel case retains sharp lug edges and clean finishing with no significant wear marks. The new aftermarket leather strap is unworn and supple. The Omega-signed tang buckle is in excellent condition. Box and papers are present with the lot.
