Description/extras: Very Well presented FX Army Ute 1953 50-2106, body number 511 which is believed to be built in Woodville South Australia.

The restoration of this Ute was to military specifications for this period which was covered by Production Option GMH 240. The following are the specifics maintained in this restoration.

Colour and Trim, exterior of vehicle including normally chrome plated parts are painted Deep Bronze Green, unpolished. Interior of vehicle including normally chromed plated parts are painted Deep Bronze Green unpolished. Steering wheel is painted Dusky Beige. Trim is Copper Brown PVC.
Battery for this vehicle is 12 volts, to maintain original appearance the 6 volt generator has been rebuilt and modified to 12 volts.
There is no provision in the Instrument panel for an ash tray or radio.
Fitment of Reflex Markers (Special Type).
Auxiliary folding seat for three people in load compartment

The chosen Unit markings for this vehicle are the 3rd Division C.M.F., which is Gold Crossed swords with the current AMF (Rising Sun) Badge above, and the Roman numeral 3 below in gold with red background. This was purely Army Reserve organisation, although it was also staffed with members of the Regular Army who assisted with training. This vehicle also bears the Formation sign for Australian Army Headquarters. This was introduced into the Australian Army in 1950, and adopted from the British Army Practice.
This vehicle underwent a full nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. With the assistance of other Army Ute owners, this vehicle was returned to as close to original as possible. Including a Flat base Acrylic respray, with off the gun finish.
This vehicle was originally published by Don Loffler in “Still Holden together” page 201. I purchased this vehicle from Peter Dixon in 2019. I first saw this vehicle in 2012, near Taree at Peter Dixon’s property, however I chose to by his FJ utility instead. Following the restoration of the FJ, I met up with Peter and discovered he still owned the Army Ute. After a short period of deliberations, I bought this Ute off him also.


For Sale: 1953 FX Army Ute (50-2106, Body No. 511)

This rare and meticulously restored 1953 FX Army Ute is a true collector's piece, believed to have been built in Woodville, South Australia. Its restoration adheres strictly to military specifications of the era under Production Option GMH 240, making it a unique and historically accurate example.

· Functional Army Equipment: Fire extinguisher with D^D branding, oil filter ("Fram"), fuel cap chain, jerry can holder, radio suppressor, engine strap, and a metal plate mounted on the front of the rear tray.

· Military Unit Markings: Bearing the insignia of the 3rd Division C.M.F.—gold crossed swords with the current AMF (Rising Sun) badge above, and the Roman numeral "III" below on a red background—honouring an Army Reserve organization staffed with Regular Army personnel for training purposes. Formation sign of the Australian Army Headquarters also featured, reflecting British Army practice adopted in 1950.
