1970 Holden HG Kingswood Sedan - Cream - 53,645 Miles - 186ci Six, Mild Cam, Extractors, Restoration Candidate
1970 Holden HG Kingswood 4-door sedan, 186ci (3.0-litre) 6-cylinder petrol, rear-wheel drive, odometer indicating 53,645 miles, seating for six.
Description
The HG Kingswood holds a special place in Australian motoring history as one of the most popular family sedans of its era, bridging the gap between the earlier HD/HR series and the iconic HQ that followed. This cream example is an honest, unrestored survivor that has been kept running and used rather than locked away. The 186ci inline-six has been given a mild performance touch with a cam upgrade, two-barrel carburettor, and extractors fitted. It still wears its original steel wheels with Holden dog-dish caps and carries its original cream/tan vinyl interior.
Condition is consistent with an unrestored car of this age. The cream paint is aged and chalky but largely intact across most panels. The vendor has disclosed rust in the doors, at the top of the windscreen, and surface rust in various places. Photos confirm corrosion at the base of the windscreen cowl panel, rust bubbling at the rear window aperture edges, and surface rust on the bonnet leading edge and wheel arch lips. The front bench seat vinyl is heavily worn with cracking, splits, and staining on the driver's side. The rear seat is in better condition. The dashboard is dirty but intact without major cracking, and three aftermarket gauges have been mounted below the dash. A period louvred rear window shade is fitted. Vendor advises new tyres, a new radiator, new gaskets, thermostat, and adjusted rockers, with receipts provided.
HG Kingswoods are increasingly sought after as restoration projects and affordable entry points into classic Holden ownership. This one runs and drives, has some useful mechanical work already completed, and comes with receipts. The rust will need attention, but the body is largely complete and the bones are there for a worthwhile restoration or a rolling project to improve over time.
