Overview

The rubellite (pink-red tourmaline) at the centre of this piece is exceptional in scale - at 11.57 carats and measuring 18.60 x 14.20mm, the smooth oval cabochon dominates the pendant with a deep, purplish-red colour that is both rich and unusual. Unlike transparent faceted stones, a cabochon at this size displays the colour and lustre as a continuous dome, giving it a lush, opulent quality. The colour here is a medium-dark purplish-red, closer to a deep raspberry or wine than a light pink, and the polished dome surface carries the colour with good saturation and glassy lustre.



The rubellite sits at the centre of four ornate quadrant panels, each finished with pink enamel geometric borders and encrusted with 173 bead-set round brilliant diamonds. Four small ruby quatrefoil cluster motifs punctuate the panels, their vivid red echoing the rubellite's colour at a smaller scale. The matched station necklace chain continues the theme, with ruby and diamond cluster stations spaced along its length. The overall design is antique-inspired with a modern CAD-manufactured construction, hand-finished and hand-set.



From the photos, the piece is in new, unworn condition. The back of the pendant is stamped "585 RU 15.75ct RU 0.41ct D 1.24ct" confirming the metal purity and stone weights. An independent insurance valuation (Karma Gems, November 2025) assessed replacement value at AUD $55,000.
