Description
The Holden Gemini was a genuine sales success for GMH throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, offering Japanese Isuzu engineering in an Australian-market package. The TD series (1977-1979) is the first generation, and finding one this complete and this straight is increasingly unusual. These are getting thin on the ground, and the ones that do surface tend to be rough. This one bucks the trend.
The body is remarkably straight with good panel alignment throughout and no visible dents or collision damage on any external panel. The yellow paint is heavily oxidised from long-term storage but appears to be the original finish with no evidence of respray. The chrome bumpers, all glass, headlights, tail lights, grille, badges and body mouldings are present and intact. The "Gemini SL" badges remain on both rear quarters. Underneath the aftermarket blue seat covers, the interior retains its original brown/tan trim with the SL-specification door cards, dashboard and centre console all complete and uncracked. The engine bay houses the original 1.6-litre four-cylinder with carburettor and air cleaner in place. No battery is fitted. The odometer indicates 43,224 miles, which is unverified but the interior condition is consistent with low use. Keys are present in the ignition. Spare wheel is in the boot.
Vendor advises this is a non-runner and stock standard throughout. For the Gemini enthusiast or someone after a clean, complete restoration base, this is a strong starting point. Comparable TD Geminis in running condition have been listed in the $4,000 to $9,500 range.
