Right-hand drive. Current Queensland Safety Certificate.

Description

The 1949 Ford F1 was the first of Ford's post-war light truck line, and its clean, purposeful cab-over-style styling has made it one of the most desirable restomod platforms in the American truck scene. This example represents the serious end of the restomod market, with an investment-grade build that replaces virtually every mechanical system with modern, proven hardware while preserving the unmistakable character of the original body.

The mechanical specification reads like a blueprint for a truck you can actually drive hard and enjoy. The chassis has been custom notched and reinforced with heavy-duty tubular bracing. A Mustang II independent front suspension conversion brings rack-and-pinion power steering and dramatically improved handling. The rear has been converted from leaf springs to a custom four-link setup with chromoly Heim joints and a fully adjustable Panhard bar. Ride height is managed by a RideTech Shockwave air suspension system using HQ1000 series units front and HQ8000 series units rear, controlled by a RidePro E5 air management system operable from a smartphone. The drivetrain is a rebuilt 351ci Windsor V8 with mild camshaft, backed by a reconditioned C6 automatic transmission, driving a Ford 8.8-inch differential with 3.5:1 gearing. Four-wheel power disc brakes with a dual master cylinder and all-new brake lines bring it all to a stop properly. The black exterior carries excellent depth and gloss throughout, complemented by staggered 20x8 front and 20x12 rear American Racing billet wheels and a custom roll pan with integrated tail lights. The timber tray lid adds a refined period-appropriate touch to the rear. Inside, the cabin has been retrimmed in custom black leather with air conditioning, one-piece power windows, and a Bluetooth audio system with upgraded speakers.

Vendor advises the vehicle shows 1,160 kilometres since completion, which is entirely consistent with a fresh, show-quality build. A current Queensland Safety Certificate is included, meaning registration can proceed immediately. High-quality 1949 F1 restomods with documented professional builds and premium suspension systems consistently achieve $80,000 to $130,000 AUD in the Australian market, with RideTech-equipped examples at the stronger end of that range.
