Description:

1970 Holden HT Monaro GTS Coupe - Seabring Orange - 57,045 Miles - 350ci Chevrolet V8, Powerglide Automatic

Overview

The HT Monaro GTS remains one of the most desirable and recognisable Australian muscle cars ever produced. Built during the golden era of Australian performance motoring, the HT GTS combined striking styling, sporting credentials and genuine road presence. This April 1970-built, Sydney-assembled example presents in its original and highly sought-after Seabring Orange finish, a colour that perfectly complements the Monaro's timeless coupe styling.

Originally delivered with Holden's respected 186S six-cylinder engine, this Monaro has since been professionally converted to V8 power and now features a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine. All V8 conversion requirements have been complied with, creating a classic Australian muscle car with the sound, performance and presence enthusiasts desire. The original two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission remains fitted, providing effortless cruising while maintaining period-correct character.

Owned by the current vendor for the past 10 years, the vehicle underwent restoration approximately eight years ago. During the restoration, the body was refinished in its original Seabring Orange colour using acrylic paint, as per factory specification. The result is a striking presentation that remains faithful to the car's heritage while offering excellent visual appeal.

The exterior presents exceptionally well, with strong paint depth and gloss throughout. The iconic black GTS stripes remain crisp and well-defined, while the chrome trim, bumpers and brightwork complement the vibrant orange finish. The vehicle sits on classic 13-inch five-spoke Dragway wheels, enhancing its authentic Australian muscle car stance. Adding further period appeal is a black Aunger rear window louvre, a highly desirable accessory from the era.

Inside, the cabin retains its classic GTS character with black bucket seats, original-style trim and factory instrumentation. The odometer currently displays 57,045 miles. While the radio appears factory-original, it has been discreetly upgraded internally to include Bluetooth connectivity, USB functionality and an integrated microphone, providing modern convenience without compromising the original appearance. The battery has been relocated to the boot compartment and fitted with an isolation switch.

Under the bonnet, the 350ci Chevrolet V8 delivers strong performance and the unmistakable soundtrack enthusiasts expect from a classic Australian muscle car. MSD ignition components have been fitted to improve reliability and ignition performance. The engine bay presents cleanly and reflects the care and attention invested throughout the restoration.

Adding further appeal, the vehicle is accompanied by its original Holden GMH Owner Protection Plan service book and original Holden owner's manual, valuable inclusions for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

For buyers seeking an authentic Australian-built HT Monaro GTS with desirable V8 power, restoration history, original colour combination and documented ownership, this example represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire a significant piece of Australian motoring heritage.
