Description
The 1965 Mustang Fastback is the most desirable body style from the first generation, and this example has been transformed into a serious drag racing package built around a full Chris Alston race chassis. This is not a weekend project or a garage queen. Everything here has been selected and installed with competition in mind, from the ANDRA-certified chassis structure right through to the race-specification drivetrain.
The bodywork is presented in bright red with white Shelby-style racing stripes and the car carries race number 4888 in the 10.5-inch tyre class. The paint holds good gloss across all panels and the Fastback roofline looks exactly as it should with louvred quarter windows intact. Sitting over Centerline USA beadlock drag wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson drag slicks at the rear and Goodyear GS-series slicks at the front, the stance is aggressive and purposeful. The chassis carries ANDRA certification number 000761, confirming this car is ready to compete.
Vendor advises the engine is a 355 cubic inch Ford small-block built on a Dart engine block and has completed run-in hours only since construction. Internal components include a moly crankshaft, Highbeam connecting rods, AFR cylinder heads with Jesel roller rockers, and a new Vortech V7 centrifugal supercharger feeding a fuel injection system. Power reaches the track through a Powerglide automatic transmission with transbrake, into a Mark Williams rear end, with Wilwood brakes providing stopping capability front and rear. The engine number A147588 is confirmed in photographs. The aluminium race radiator, full AN plumbing in blue and red, and clean engine bay installation reflect genuine professional-quality fabrication work. An Aeromotive fuel injection management system is housed in the boot area alongside the aluminium race fuel cell and relocated battery.
