L. Kaseder, known as "Luka," was a Bavarian painter based in Gumpersdorf, Germany. "Am Bach" (At the Brook) is a tranquil autumnal forest scene depicting tall deciduous trees in golden-brown and orange foliage reflected along a gentle stream or brook with grassy banks and weathered fence posts. The atmospheric handling of light through the canopy and the muted pastoral palette are characteristic of traditional German landscape painting in the Romanticism-derived regional tradition. The ornate gilt and cream frame with linen liner presents the work in an appropriately traditional manner.<br>
