A naturalistic sculpture of an Australian Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) in a forward-leaning, dynamic pose, perched on a branch element that rises from a circular creek-bed base. The base is detailed with small rocks, pebbles, and leaf forms representing a riverside habitat. The sculptor has captured the platypus with close attention to its distinctive features: the broad duck-like bill with defined nostrils, paddle-shaped tail with incised fur texture, webbed feet, and compact body. A dual patina treatment applies a warm golden-bronze to the body and branch highlights against a dark brown-black recessed base.<br>
