Description:

1963 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Single Cab Utility - Cream - 95,406 Miles - Restored, Diesel Conversion, Snorkel, Bull Bar, Hardwood Tray

One of the rarest Land Cruiser body styles in existence, restored and ready to drive.

Description

The FJ45 single cab utility is one of the rarest and most sought-after body styles in the entire Land Cruiser lineage. Built to work Australia's outback stations, mine sites, and remote properties through the early 1960s, these utes defined four-wheel drive capability before the term became a lifestyle choice. Finding a properly restored example that's ready to drive is genuinely unusual - this 1963 chassis FJ4514242 is exactly that.

Finished in cream throughout, the cab panels present consistently with a tidy, body-coloured engine bay. The original Toyota and Land Cruiser bonnet badging is retained, fold-down windscreen capability is intact, and wire mesh guards protect the rear cab windows. A black steel bull bar with integrated driving lights sits up front, a passenger-side snorkel connects directly into the airbox, and the steel mesh headboard carries a spare tyre behind the cab. Vendor advises the hardwood tray timber has been recently redone, and photos confirm solid planking on a steel tray frame with under-tray storage drawers on both sides.

The data plate confirms chassis 3-FJ45-14242 and engine number F184510. The original plate records the factory 6-cylinder F-series 3.878-litre petrol engine, and the vehicle has been converted to a 4-cylinder diesel, which presents cleanly with a red-painted valve cover and dual battery setup. Inside the cab, the red vinyl bench seat presents very well and has the appearance of a fresh retrim. The cream dash is fitted with a Kenwood cassette stereo, auxiliary oil pressure and temperature gauges, and additional toggle switches. The original gear shifting instructions plate on the sun visor is present and fully legible. Floor-mounted transfer case lever and main gearshift confirm the high/low range 4WD system. Olympic Overlander tyres are fitted on the front axle and General Super All Grip tyres on the rear, all on cream-painted steel wheels with manual locking front hubs. A Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ tyre is fitted to the spare.
