Overview
The VN Commodore wagon was the working family car of early 1990s Australia. Practical, honest, rear-wheel drive, and mechanically simple enough that any decent workshop could keep it running indefinitely. Built in May 1991 according to the build plate, this example carries the 3.8-litre LG2 V6 engine driving through a four-speed automatic to the rear axle, exactly as General Motors-Holden intended. Paint code 1J052 is Dover White, and the red pinstripe body kit gives this one the period-correct Commodore S presentation.
The cabin is the real story here. The interior has held up remarkably well for a 35-year-old Australian family wagon. The plaid cloth seats with red piping are clean and structurally sound on both front and rear bench, without the bolster damage or tears you'd expect at this age. Door cards are all intact. The dashboard is uncracked and the original VN Electronic Audio cassette head unit is still fitted, now supplemented by an aftermarket GPS navigation screen mounted above the centre console. The instrument cluster reads 173,084km and the VN/VG Series Owners Handbook is present.
Mechanically, the LG2 V6 engine bay presents as a working motor with red ignition leads fitted. The cargo area is large and practical, with the rear seat folding to create genuine loadspace.
