Description:

Natural Vibrant Cluster Of Reddish-Brown Hexagonal Vanadinite Crystals Resting On A Rocky Matrix

Item Description

A striking natural mineral specimen featuring a vanadinite crystals matrix with extensive iron oxide mineralisation and crystalline formations across its surface. The specimen displays a complex geological composition with distinct colour stratification ranging from golden-yellow oxidised zones to deep reddish-brown iron-rich deposits, complemented by pale cream and grey host rock. Size 15cm x 22cm x 8cm.

Physical Characteristics

The specimen exhibits multiple layers of mineral deposition, with prominent cubic and granular crystal formations densely clustered across approximately 60% of the visible surface. The crystalline structures display excellent definition and geometric precision, suggesting natural hydrothermal or oxidation processes. The base matrix appears to be silicate-rich vanadinite with significant iron oxide weathering and secondary mineralisation.

Geological Features

The specimen demonstrates classic characteristics of iron-rich mineral oxidation, with the reddish-brown crystalline coating showing the distinctive colour palette associated with iron hydroxides and iron oxide minerals. The golden-yellow zones indicate limonite or goethite formation, whilst the deeper rust tones suggest haematite or magnetite oxidation products. The pale host rock provides excellent contrast, highlighting the mineral formations.

Condition

The specimen is in excellent condition with no visible fractures or damage to the crystalline formations. The crystal faces remain sharp and well-defined. The specimen shows natural weathering consistent with surface exposure, with no evidence of artificial treatment or enhancement.

Collector Appeal

This is an attractive display specimen suitable for mineral collectors, geology enthusiasts, or educational purposes. The combination of well-formed crystals, striking colour contrast, and geological interest makes this a desirable natural history piece. The specimen would display effectively in a mineral cabinet or as a standalone display piece.
