Overview
The 1971 Ford Falcon XY is one of the most emotionally charged platforms in Australian automotive history, and the GT specification takes that to another level entirely. This XY has been built as a GT Replica, wearing the unmistakable Vermillion Fire paintwork, bold black GT stripes and a shaker-style bonnet scoop that announce its intentions well before you hear it start. The visual package is correct, convincing and executed to a high standard.
Vendor advises the car has travelled approximately 500 kilometres since a comprehensive mechanical rebuild. The Ford V8 has been treated to a Scat stroker kit, 0.040-inch overbore, ported and polished cylinder heads with gasket-matched ports and roller rockers, and the result is a purposefully built engine that fills the engine bay with braided stainless lines, blue valve covers and red plug leads. Power reaches the road through a rebuilt FMX automatic transmission completed by Precise Automatics Beenleigh, paired to a B&M ratchet floor shifter.
The upgrades continue throughout. A 9-inch rear differential with EB rear disc brake conversion, XY front disc brakes with brake booster, and an XE power steering box bring the chassis up to modern drivability standards. Vintage Air air conditioning integrates neatly through the factory-style dash vents. A custom exhaust system by Beaudesert Exhaust, rear brake line lock (solenoid), and a touch sensor security system round out a thorough and well-considered build.
