After more than 20 years of ownership, this XR Falcon Wagon is now being offered for its next custodian to enjoy. Built by its long-term owner as a tough and enjoyable streeter, the car was designed to be driven, enjoyed with mates and still practical enough to cruise with the family. According to the owner, it has never let him down during his ownership.
Originally purchased as a completely stock six-cylinder three-speed manual wagon with a bench seat, drum brakes and standard front end, the car has since undergone extensive mechanical and cosmetic upgrades.
At the heart of the build is a strong 351 Cleveland V8 featuring red roller rockers, double valve springs, a 780 vac holley and low plain holley manifold, block is half grout filled. cooling is handled by an aluminium GT radiator with twin AU thermo fans operated via a manual switch. The engine is fitted with a Gilmer drive and electronic distributor and has recently been repainted. Transmisson is a C10 with a stage 2 shift kit and a big convertor aprrximately 3 ½. Has a big tail shaft that was shortened out of a LTD. Diff is shorter 9’ with 345 gears with locked spool. In the rear cargo area, 6 x 9 speakers and a XD Fairmont Ghia lighting has been done, retractable seat belts in the front. The body is 90% bare metalled, paint is new, and the car had minor rust that was cut out. This XR has been made out to look like a rat rod, creating a patina look to create the effect where it looks like it has never been touched but is in fact new. Wheels – Stillies at the front are 14 x 7’s and rear are Herodrag tyres 15 x 8’s. Hurricane extractors with a twin system hookler mufflers and couple of resistors on back end just to quieten it down abit. Front end suspension was done by Centreline Suspensions with thicker sway bar, new springs and shocks. Interior is all new from front to back minus roof lining. Has a quicksilver shifter with 2 chrome buttons on the box - one for the horn and one for the wipers. There's two hidden guages in the glovebox, one for temperature and one for oil. There's also a CD/radio in the glovebox, in order to keep the dash all original, and a hidden esky in the centre console. This car will not disappoint. Its tough and a head turner every where you go!
